I love when I get assignments that let me travel using Google Earth; and, even better if you have the money to go to places like Saint Simons Island off the coast of Georgia. In order to stay there, you’ll have to be booked into one of Saint Simons Island Hotels.
This is deep in the heart of where the pirates of the Caribbean used to bury their treasure.
One of the places you might stay would be Epworth by the Sea near Epworth Acres at 100 Arthur J Moore Drive; St Simons Island, GA 31522-2201 It gets four out of five stars from 20 reviews. “Friendly people and really clean facilities”.
As usual, whenever I’m traveling, I first go to the Chamber of Commerce. In this case I just type ‘Saint Simons Island chamber of commerce’ into the ‘Fly To’ gadget and Chamber Of Commerce Brunswick Golden Isles comes up;
St. Simons Island Light is a thousand-watt electric bulb lighthouse at the South end of the island that is visible for 23 miles. If you click on the little blue square next to it in Google Earth you can see what the lighthouse looks like just as the sun is setting.
If you’re looking for Saint Simons Island Hotels, don’t forget Bed and Breakfasts. I always think they’re more fun than going to those big high-rise fancy hotels. The Beach Bed and Breakfast looks like a good one. It’s very close to the ocean and gets four-and-one-half stars out of five. “A perfect 3-day getaway” says one five star rating. “It was our tenth-year anniversary and it was the first trip we took without the little guys”.
Another five-star rating said they were, “… blown away with the breath-taking view”. They called it a ’spectacular stay’.
If you go way down to the bottom of the island and click on ‘I Love Tri-X’, you’ll see a really nice black-and-white photo taken from the pier at night, looking back at the shoreline. You’ll also see a panorama shot taken from the 325 foot-long GA Pier that’s spectacular.
Near to that pier is the Blue Water Café and Bar and the Sand Castle Cafe and Grill near Neptune Park. They have their own airport with a 1.1 mile long runway, so you could fly right in to the island. At the Southwest corner of the island is a really interesting golf course which traces its way through the salt flats at the Sea Island Golf .
Other of the Saint Simons Island Hotels include The Clositer at Sea Island. It gets four and one half stars out of five from 95 reviews. “Best overall family resort,” says one five-star rating. One person stayed two nights in February, and yet they still gave it a four-star rating. I don’t know if you ever stayed near the ocean in February, but it can get very cold because of the high humidity combined with the ocean air. So, if the place can satisfy them even in February, it has to be good. So, as far as Saint Simons Island Hotels.
